County to End Relationship With Carolinas HealthCare in Two Years

Commissioners of Mecklenburg, N.C., agreed to end a contract with Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System on June 30, 2013, according to a Charlotte Observer report.

This agreement results from a disagreement between the county and system over funding and CHS' plan to build a new psychiatric hospital. County Manager Harry Jones said CHS has not provided the county with information required by the contract. Mr. Jones said he could recommend an earlier end to the contract if CHS continues the alleged breach of contract.

CHS said it has not breached the contract and has provided information to the county.
