Miami's struggling Jackson Health System has received a detailed turnaround plan from a Chicago consulting group that believes the system can be saved without massive labor cuts, according to a Miami Herald report.
Executives from The Sibery Group proposed six keys to repair the public hospital system:
• Converting to primary care and outpatient services to treat patients in the lowest possible cost setting.
• Building revenue and volumes through the adoption of a patient-centered delivery model that makes Jackson more appealing to potential patients.
• Using Jackson Health Plan as a strategic asset to grow patient volumes.
• Reducing operating expenses through length of stay reductions, treating patients in the lowest-cost settings, providing preventative and primary care services, increasing automation and improved technology solutions and enhancing patient flow.
• Assessing the system's current financial and operational agreement with the University of Miami to ensure it meets its objectives, provides for timely care to Jackson patients and is equitable to both parties.
• Using private/public partnerships to provide capital to accelerate the strategic plan.
