The Health Care Authority of the City of Anniston let go approximately 19 employees at Anniston, Ala.-based Stringfellow Memorial Hospital following its recent acquisition of the 125-bed hospital.

In an emailed statement to Becker's Hospital Review. a spokesperson for the healthcare authority, which oversees Anniston-based Regional Medical Center, said the job cuts affect staff and management positions.

"Employees who were impacted were notified of these reductions last Thursday. We do not anticipate any further staff reductions," the healthcare authority added.

In announcing the layoffs, the healthcare authority also declared Ashlie Barnes, BSN, RN, who most recently served as progressive care unit nurse manager at RMC, will be named director of nursing at Stringfellow.
