Bill Considine is one of the longest serving hospital CEOs in the United States. He has served as president and CEO of Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital since 1979, guiding the hospital through 36 years of change and growth.
Under his leadership, Akron Children's has grown to become the largest pediatric healthcare provider in northern Ohio, with nearly 800,000 annual patient visits in nearly 80 locations. He has also expanded the scope of Akron Children's healthcare services to include advanced cardiac care, neurology and neurosurgery, neonatology, orthopedics, intensive care, behavioral health, maternal fetal medicine, genetics, infectious disease and the state's first pediatric sports medicine center.
Mr. Considine is actively involved in numerous healthcare, educational and cultural organizations at local, state and national levels. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a board member of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions and the American Hospital Association. He is also chairman of Akron Tomorrow and the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron.
Mr. Considine has been honored by numerous organizations for his commitment to pediatrics and healthcare in general, including the American Lung Association, the Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America, the March of Dimes, Akron Public Schools and others.
