Centegra, Mercy Health Appeal Review Board's CON Denial

Crystal Lake, Ill.-based Centegra Health System and Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System are appealing the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board's denial of both systems' requests for certificate of needs to build new facilities in McHenry County, according to a Northwest Herald report.

The Board denied the requests in December after determining the systems did not prove a strong enough need for additional hospital beds in the area. An administrative law judge will now review the appeals and could recommend the Board rehear the systems' requests, according to the report.

Centegra planned to build a $233 million, 128-bed hospital in Huntley, Ill., while Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System's planned a $115 million, 70-bed hospital in Crystal Lake.
