Tallahassee, Fla.-based Capital Regional Medical Center CEO Alan Keesee is launching an investigation into hospital safety protocol in the wake of a recent attack that left a patient dead in her bed, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
Alexander Spark snuck a knife into the hospital Feb. 23 and stabbed his mother to death in her bed. He was apprehended in the hospital.
Mr. Keesee, Capital's former COO who became CEO one week after the attack, said investigating hospital safety is one of his top priorities as he assumes the organization's top leadership position.
"With me being new, I'm reviewing a lot of things, multiple things — including what happened. The incident is obviously being reviewed," Mr. Keesee told the Tallahassee Democrat. "We're definitely reviewing all of our policies and processes related to patient safety and security … We're doing a full assessment of the security on the campus."
