Question: What did you notice about your healthcare experience the last time you were at the receiving end as a patient?
Sherri Peavy: How smoothly it went. This is something we have been working on for some time now. I appreciate the efficient service and respect for my time as well as the convenience of the patient portal.
Q: Please share a new consumer-centric capability your organization has built or tapped into within the past 18 months.
SP: At my institution we are focusing on our patient portal engagement to reduce the time connecting with patient and to provide them with timely feedback.
Q: When was the last time your organization responded to concerns or needs expressed by physicians? What unfolded?
SP: Our physicians are concerned with the number of patients they see as walk-ins – we are in the process of revamping the patient experience, by ensuring patients are receiving follow up instructions and appointments that work for them, not us.
Q: How do you define patient engagement?
SP: When patients attest they have a relationship with their primary care provider and that they trust her/him.
Q: As a leader, what is the best investment you made in your own professional development in the past five years?
SP: Working with students in Healthcare Administration and consulting with various leaders with different experiences than my own. I learn from all.
