Question: What do innovators/entrepreneurs from outside healthcare need to better understand about hospital and health system leaders?

Meng Wei: Healthcare leaders need intelligent data insights to be meaningful, actionable, accessible, and user friendly

Q: Healthcare takes a lot of heat for not innovating quickly. What's your take on this?

MW: It is true but also understandable. After all, we take care of human beings. The demands for accuracy, safety, and privacy are much higher than those in any other industries. The rising interests in Healthcare from other industries will add more resources, talents, and competition to speed up the pace of innovation for healthcare. It is a good thing.

Q: Can you share some praise with us about people you work with? What does greatness look like to you when it comes to your team?

MW: UCLA Health is a data-driven health system. We use data to align our actions with our institutional goals. Our leaders have clear visions, and our teams encourage innovation with can-do mentality.
