Baylor Medical Center at Garland (Texas) is closing its labor and delivery unit, which will lead to 47 layoffs, according to a Dallas Business Journal report.
The closure and layoffs will take effect before April 7, according to the report.
Doing away with the labor and delivery unit will allow the hospital to use the space for other service areas that are seeing an increased demand, the Dallas Business Journal reported. Additionally, Baylor Garland has recently seen a decrease in labor and delivery patients, according to the report.
