Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health is laying off employees across its eight markets in Kentucky and southern Indiana, the system said Wednesday in an emailed statement to Becker's Hospital Review.
"This continues to be a time of both transformation and great uncertainty in the healthcare industry. Baptist Health is realigning its structure to best meet the needs of our patients and communities within a challenging financial environment," the organization said.
The staff cuts affect 288 employees systemwide, representing about 1 percent of Baptist Health's workforce. Of the 288 affected employees, 149 are at the system's corporate headquarters in Louisville, primarily in administrative roles, the system said.
Baptist Health said affected employees will be offered severance and outplacement job assistance, if they cannot fill other system positions.
