Addison, Ill.-based Arjo, a medical supply provider, will lay off 54 employees in San Antonio due to operational closure plans, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice.
The company expects the planned layoffs to be permanent and begin on or about June 9, states the notice to the Texas Workforce Commission, dated April 10. None of the affected employees are unionized.
Erin McAuliffe, vice president of human resources at Arjo, previously told the San Antonio Business Journal via email that a full closure of the San Antonio facility is not anticipated, but it does plan to move the majority of its product development department elsewhere.
"A global decision has been made to co-localize research and development and sustaining engineering with manufacturing to maximize Arjo's product development output," Ms. McAuliffe said. "Efforts are being made to assist employees through this difficult time from seeking other roles within the company to outplacement services."
