The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality should focus its proposed set of 51 healthcare quality measures, which state Medicaid programs will be using for public reporting, according to a letter from the AHA.
"We are concerned that the proposed list lacks the focus and prioritization that could truly drive patient care forward," the letter stated, adding that AHRQ should "build a concise, focused initial core measure set."
The AHA proposed only using measures endorsed by the National Quality Forum and urged AHRQ to identify models in previous public reporting programs, such as Medicare hospital quality reporting initiatives.
