AAPA taps former Rush leader as inaugural chief medical officer

Jennifer Orozco, DMSc, PA-C, has been selected to serve as the American Academy of Physician Associates' first chief medical officer.

In a July 11 news release, the organization said the "newly created position reinforces PA value in a modern healthcare system and AAPA's commitment to empowering PAs to advance their careers and enhance patient health."

Ms. Orozco's two-year term as president and chair of the AAPA ended July 1. She has spent more than 20 years in clinical and healthcare leadership roles, including in multiple roles at Rush University System for Health in Chicago and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, also in Chicago. Most recently, Ms. Orozco was the director of advanced practice providers and a practicing PA in vascular surgery.
