9 Hospital Credit Ratings Downgraded in Last 30 Days

The credit ratings of nine different hospitals and health systems were downgraded by various ratings agencies from Sept. 15-Oct. 15, 2010, according to a report from HFA Partners.

The hospitals receiving credit downgrades include:

•    Hopkins County Hospital District (Sulphur Springs, Texas) — From Baa3 to Ba1 (Moody's).
•    Memorial Health University Medical Center (Savannah, Ga.) — From Baa2 to Baa3 (Moody').
•    Norman (Okla.) Regional Hospital Authority — From BBB- to BB+ (Fitch).
•    Ohio Valley General Hospital (McKees Rocks, Pa.) — From Baa3 to Ba2 (Moody's).
•    Piedmont Healthcare (Atlanta) — AA to AA- (S&P).
•    Rahway (N.J.) Hospital — From Ba2 to Ba3 (Moody's).
•    Reid Hospital (Richmond, Ind.) — From AA- to A+ (Fitch).
•    Roger Williams Medical Center (Providence, R.I.) — From BB to BB- (S&P).
•    St. Joseph Health Services (North Providence, R.I.) — From BB- to B-(S&P).

Hospitals receiving credit upgrades during the same 30 days include:

•    Bellin Health (Greenbay, Wis.) — From A- to A (S&P).
•    Lenox Hill Hospital (New York City) — From Ba1 to Baa3 (Moody's).
•    Little Company of Mary Hospital (Evergreen Park, Ill.) — From A to A+ (S&P).
•    Poudre Valley Health System - A-D&F (Fort Collins, Colo.) — From A3 to A2 (Moody's).
•    Poudre Valley Health System - E (Fort Collins, Colo.) — Baa1 to A3 (Moody's).
