Chief executives' social media presence matters to employees, according to a survey conducted by Brunswick, a business advisory firm, and featured by CNBC.
The report is based on a review of the digital profiles of 790 CEOs of the S&P 500 and FTSE 350 and a survey of more than 4,000 employees and 805 readers of financial publications in the U.S. and U.K.
Here are four key notes from the survey, as reported by CNBC:
- 65 percent of American employees felt it was important for CEOs to post on social media
- 80 percent of employees expect CEOs to communicate on social media during a company crisis
- 93 percent of employees said direct, transparent communication from leadership is an important factor in retention
- Most employees looked at CEOs' social media accounts before accepting a job offer
