The credit ratings of six different hospitals and health systems were downgraded by various ratings agencies from Oct. 15, 2010 – Nov. 15, 2010, according to a report from HFA Partners.
The hospitals receiving credit downgrades include:
• Helen Keller Hospital (Sheffield, Ala.) — Baa3 to Ba1
• Keokuk (Iowa) Area Hospital — B3 to Caa2
• St. Joseph Health Services (North Providence, R.I.) — Ba3 to B2
• St. Peter's University Hospitals (New Brunswick, N.J.) — Baa2 to Baa3
• Vassar Brothers Medical Center (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) —A to A-
• Westerly (R.I.) Hospital — B2 to Caa1
The hospitals receiving credit upgrades in the last 30 days include:
• Clarian Health Partners (Indianapolis) — A2 to A1
• Hazleton (Pa.) General Hospital — Ba2 to Ba1
• Memorial Hermann (Houston) — A to A+
• MetroHealth (Cleveland) — BBB+ to A-
• Rush University Medical Center (Chicago) — A3 to A2
