While most medical practice leaders do not have a hard time scheduling provider time off in the summer, nearly one-third of them do, according to the Medical Group Management Association's most recent Stat poll.
The May 28 poll asked 1,213 medical practice leaders whether their organizations had difficulty accommodating provider time off during summertime.
Sixty-nine percent said "no," and 31 percent said "yes."
An association commentary piece about the study some of the respondents who didn't have scheduling difficulties reported that they often create schedules at least a month in advance.
The association recommended that practices having difficulty plan in advance, have a clear set of rules for taking time off and account for patient access needs.
