3 things every executive must do before they begin a job search

Though many companies are hiring C-suite level executives, competition for these positions is steep and executives must take preemptive measures to separate themselves from other applicants, according to Forbes.

Listed below are three things every executive should do before they begin their job search.

1. Make sure your marketing materials are up to date and in line with contemporary style standards. Don't think your experience alone will automatically impress employers. You must update your resume and website to ensure you don't appear behind the times.

2. Focus more of your energy on networking than formal job searching. Most high-level positions are filled based on networking, not on submitting resumes, so start talking with personal and professional connections and keep an eye on LinkedIn for potential opportunities.

3. Create an online presence as an industry expert. Potential employers will search for you online, so make sure you are sharing articles and writing posts on social media sites.
