3 healthcare layoffs in the news

The following healthcare layoffs were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in July. The list below begins with the most recent ones.

1. Pennsylvania long-term care facility to shutter, lay off 122 employees
LifeCare Hospitals of Mechanicsburg (Pa.) is closing and will lay off 122 employees.

2. Missouri system lays off 68 employees, 45 IT contractors
BJC HealthCare in St. Louis laid off 68 employees and 45 contractors July 11 in its restructuring of IT staff.

3. Tennessee medical college lays off 55 nonfaculty employees
Nashville, Tenn.-based Meharry Medical College, one of the oldest and largest historically black academic health science centers in the U.S., reduced its workforce by about 6.5 percent.
