$2.85B in CHIP funding included in House stopgap funding bill

House leaders proposed a new stopgap funding bill Thursday that includes $2.85 billion for the Children's Health Insurance Program, according to The Hill.

If Congress does not pass an emergency funding bill before the end of the week, the government will shut down on Saturday. The $2.85 billion will fund state CHIP programs through March. The bill also allots $550 million for community health centers.

The legislation partially funds these programs by redirecting $750 million from ACA's public health and prevention fund, which House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Democrats plan to challenge at a House Rules Committee meeting later Thursday.
