Nearly 100 local residents gathered Sunday night to call on Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health to reverse its decision to close Dayton-based Good Samaritan Hospital, according to WDTN.
In January, Premier Health officials close the 491-bed hospital by the end of 2018. Those officials cited financial concerns as a reason for closure, in addition to the facility's proximity to another Premier Health hospital.
Area residents said the move will hurt the community,
"They have abandoned Dayton," said Shereda Lipscomb, according to WDTN. "They've given up on us. Instead of trying to work with us and solve a problem in a way that would be beneficial for us, but they’re just throwing in the towel."
