Wisconsin's Columbia St. Mary's Lays Off Senior Leaders, Restructures Team

Milwaukee-based Columbia St. Mary's has laid off several senior leaders, according to a Business Journal report.

Those who were laid off include David Olson, president of Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon, Wis.; Karol Marciano, executive vice president of business development and chief strategy officer; and Amy Marquardt, vice president of legal affairs and general counsel. Today is the last day for Mr. Olson, who has been with the hospital since 2009.

The new structure includes hospital, business development and physician divisions. Deborah Friberg, president of Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee and its Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Institute, will serve as president of the hospital division. In this role, she will serve as president of the Ozaukee hospital in addition to the Milwaukee hospital and Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Institute. CFO Rhonda Anderson will serve as president of the business development division and Bruce McCarthy, MD, as president of the physician division.

Inpatient admissions at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee decreased 29 percent in the first three months of 2011, primarily because of a new, nearby hospital affiliated with Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care, according to the report.
