Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., plans to restructure its executive model to put corporate leaders in closer contact with physicians and patients, according to a Times Free Press report.
The new structure divides up responsibilities previously handled by the COO among four Erlanger officials. The four officials — Roger Forgey, Donna Bourdon, Keith Helton and Alan Kohrt, all current Erlanger leaders — will report to CEO Jim Brexler and have increased autonomy in managing their assigned hospital campuses and service lines.
This change allows the new leaders the benefit of a ground-level perspective that will inform strategic planning. It will also support the hospital's employed physician practices, which have grown substantially at Erlanger over the past few years, according to the report.
