Wolfson Children's Hospital Plans New Children's Specialty Center

Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., is planning a new children's specialty center in Brunswick, Ga., according to a Florida Times-Union report.

The children's hospital is jointly building the new facility with Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Health System, with which it is affiliated to expand pediatric subspecialty medical services in South Georgia, according to the report.

Wolfson Children's at Southeast Georgia Health System will offer pediatric cardiology and other pediatric subspecialties. Wolfson Children's Rehabilitation will also offer pediatric physical, occupational and speech-language therapies and gyms for children with neurological and orthopedic conditions. Patients requiring complex pediatric subspecialty care, such as a heart catheterization, will be transferred to Wolfson's hospital in Jacksonville.

Wolfson will operate the center in partnership with pediatric subspecialty physicians from Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville and the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.

Hospital officials expect to open the facility in May.
