University of Rochester Medical Center Plans $28.4M Imaging Facility

The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center has requested permission from the New York State Department of Health to build a $28.4 million facility for outpatient imaging.

The building would be 92,000 square feet and would include space for pediatric outpatient care and pediatric autism services. URMC plans to use subsequently vacated space at its main facility to renovate existing inpatient space, which was designed for much lower patient volumes in the 1970s.

This imaging expansion project was first conceived of in 2008, according to a news release.

Pending approval, the project would be completed some time in 2015.
