UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn., has begun construction for its new cancer institute, according to a Knoxville News Sentinel news report.
The new cancer facility will feature 100,000 square feet of space for outpatient oncology services, which is three times the size of the hospital's current cancer institute. Total costs for the facility are projected to be approximately $20 million-$25 million, and hospital officials expect the construction to finish next year.
