SwedishAmerican Health System in Illinois Approved to Build Cancer Center

Rockford, Ill.-based SwedishAmerican Health System announced the state's approval of its plan to build a freestanding outpatient cancer center in collaboration with Madison, Wis.-based UW Health and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

Groundbreaking for the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center, which will be located in Rockford, is scheduled for early June with a completion date in the last quarter of 2013. The center will offer medical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion, advanced radiation therapy and medical imaging. Patients will also have access to clinical trials at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
