Illinois' SwedishAmerican Health Collaborates With UW Health for Cancer Center

Rockford, Ill.-based SwedishAmerican Health System is collaborating with Madison, Wis.-based UW Health and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center to build an outpatient cancer center, according to a SwedishAmerican news release.

The freestanding SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center will offer medical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion, advanced radiation therapy and medical imaging. Cancer patients will also have access to clinical trials at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

SwedishAmerican plans to complete the project in 2013 and estimates it will create approximately 300 construction jobs and 104 full-time jobs.

This collaboration is part of the health systems' affiliation, which was finalized in 2010 and designed to provide high-quality subspecialty healthcare to local patients and create more specialized services in Rockford.
