Summerville (S.C.) Medical Center will move forward with an expansion of its pediatrics services, according to a Summerville Journal Scene report.
The expansion plans include a 4,000-square-foot addition to the emergency department and a 3,500-square-foot inpatient unit, both dedicated to pediatrics. The emergency room will include extra entrance bays for children. The inpatient unit will include a communal play area and a procedure room for shots and IV placement.
The planned additions are expected to be completed by mid-summer of this year, according to the report.
