Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System and Michigan State University in East Lansing announced the launch of a new pediatric resource and referral service as the first step in the organizations' consolidation of pediatric services.
The referral service, called CareMatch for Kids, is a resource for physicians that will match children with specialty care. The call center is staffed by referral coordinators, and connects children to pediatric subspecialty care offered through the multispecialty practice MSU HealthTeam and Sparrow.
The goal of CareMatch for Kids is to improve access to pediatric care and provide greater convenience for families, according to the release. The program is the first initiative under MSU and Sparrow's consolidation of pediatric healthcare services, which the institutions announced in April.
The collaboration on pediatric healthcare services builds on an existing relationship between MSU and Sparrow that began in 2009 with the signing of a formal affiliation agreement.
