Sarasota Memorial Opens Orthopedic, Birthing, Cardiac Specialty Tower

Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital has opened a $250 million expansion tower to replace several outdated specialty spaces in its main facility, according to a report from the Herald Tribune.

The 220-bed, 225,000-square-foot tower currently houses two floors of patient registration and the orthopedic unit. Specialties will continue to move in to the tower, with the mother-baby unit scheduled to move later in September. The cardiac acute and progressive units will move in October, followed by the birthing unit and neonatal intensive care units in November.

The facility completes Sarasota Memorial's general expansion project, according to the report.
