Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh plans to begin admitting patients to a new 22-bed neurosurgical intensive care unit next week, according to a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review report.
The neurosurgical ICU is designed to treat patients with complex brain injuries and spinal cord disease. The unit features medical equipment suspended from the ceiling and overhead movable consoles to provide physicians with easier access the patient's head.
