Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma University Medicine announced OU Children's Physicians has opened a new clinic promoting childhood fitness and healthy eating habits.
The Pediatric Exercising and Eating Responsibly Clinic will treat patients referred by their primary care physician and who meet certain criteria, including a Body Mass Index greater than the 99th percentile or greater than the 95th percentile with another related disease or condition.
A team of healthcare providers, including a pediatrician, dietician, physical therapist and pediatric psychologist will work with patients and families to identify underlying medical causes, lifestyle risk factors of weight gain and risk factors for chronic disease, according to the release.
The clinic is located in the OU Children's Physicians Building Specialty Clinic on the OU Health Sciences Center campus in Oklahoma City.
