Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem plans to close the open-heart surgery program at Skokie (Ill.) Hospital and consolidate it with the heart program at Evanston (Ill.) Hospital, creating a cardiovascular institute, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.
The proposed institute at Evanston Hospital will integrate multidisciplinary programs and physicians. It will provide care at seven sites, according to an application the health system filed with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
If approved, the program at Skokie Hospital would close within 60 days of NorthShore receiving the state permit to do so, according to the report.
