Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association Opposes Cancer Center

The Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association, which represents hospitals in New York's Lower Hudson Valley, has asked the state to deny the plans for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering outpatient cancer facility in Harrison, N.Y., according to a Journal News report.

NMHA representatives said the proposed $130 million cancer center would be duplicating services in the Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the report said.

The report said Maureen Killackey, medical director and deputy physician-in-chief of New York-based Memorial Sloan-Kettering Regional Care Network, thought the cancer center would be an opportunity to improve healthcare quality in the region and was surprised by the NMHA's opposition.
