Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, Minn., has implemented Mayo Clinic’s telestroke program, according to an Austin Post-Bulletin.
Mayo Clinic’s telestroke care allows patients in need of emergency medical care for stroke to be seen and heard by a Mayo Clinic neurologist in Rochester, Minn., in real time through the use of a computer. The Mayo Clinic stroke neurologist can also consult with physicians in the local emergency room and view scans of the patient’s brain, according to the report.
