EASTAR Health System Debuts Bariatric Center

EASTAR Health System, formerly known as Muskogee (Okla.) Regional Medical Center, has opened the doors of a new bariatric surgery and healthy lifestyle program, according to a report from the Muskogee Phoenix.

The new center is modeled after the Cleveland Clinic's comprehensive plan for obesity reduction. It focuses on nutrition, psychological needs, physical fitness, bariatric surgery and follow-up lifestyle changes.

Each patient will attend monthly appointments for the first year following his or her bariatric surgery, after which appointments will become a yearly affair.

The new center is part of the hospital's campaign to decrease health problems commonly associated with obesity, according to the report.
