The Detroit Medical Center's recent hiring of teleradiology firm Imaging Advantage has raised questions about its impact on the supply of radiologists in the area, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
DMC is retaining its current radiology practice, The Reynolds Group, but its physicians may have to take pay cuts as a result of the new contract, according to the report.
Some physicians are concerned about radiology training in the area, contending that Imaging Advantage may replace radiologists and therefore force physicians to apply to radiology residency programs elsewhere.
Some fear this shift may reduce the supply of radiologists in the community. However, Matt Lockwood, a spokesman for the Wayne State University School of Medicine, said DMC's five-year contract with Imaging Advantage will not affect a DMC/WSU residency program in radiology, according to the report.
