Indianapolis-based Community Health Network announced an affiliation between two of its hospitals and the MD Anderson Cancer Network, a program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Community Health Network's Community Hospital North and Community Hospital East, both in Indianapolis, will become affiliates of MD Anderson Cancer Network, enabling certified physicians at the hospitals to access evidence-based guidelines, treatment plans and concordance studies developed by MD Anderson experts. The guidelines are disease-specific for cancer treatment, prevention, early detection and follow-up care.
Community Health Network oncologists who are now certified by MD Anderson Cancer Network will initially treat cancer patients at Community's North and East campuses. Community Health Network plans to seek MD Anderson Cancer Network certification of cancer centers at Community Hospital Anderson (Ind.), Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo, Ind., and Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
