Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C. has applied for a certificate of need to build a new cancer center at an estimated cost of $20 million, according to a Daily News report.
The 33,225-square-foot facility would bring all cancer services to one location, whereas currently the hospital's primary cancer services are located at two different sites — Raab Oncology Clinic and Coleman Radiation Oncology. While both facilities are in Morehead City, only the latter is located at the main hospital.
The hospital plans to move the existing medical and radiation oncology departments to the new cancer center and add a new linear accelerator.
