Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is planning projects for cardiology and oncology services that are estimated to cost $7.7 million, according to a Hometown News report.
A cardiac care project will add a second cardiac catheterization lab to allow the hospital to perform more procedures. A cancer treatment project includes a new linear accelerator, which will allow patients to receive both chemotherapy and radiation at the hospital. In the past few years, Bert Fish's old linear accelerator had become obsolete and patients had to seek radiation treatment at other facilities, according to the report. The hospital plans to reveal its improved oncology department in October.
