Wake Forest Cuts "University" From Medical Center Name as Part of Rebranding

In a rebranding campaign, the healthcare system of Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest University will eliminate "University" from its corporate name to become Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, according to a system news release.

The exclusion of "University" in the system name is simply because "it's one less word for people to say," according to the WFBMC website.  Whether the system tested the name with University or without it, people still associated the medical center with Wake Forest University.

The brand development — which includes a new logo, website design, signage and identity — will take two to three years to complete and will cost approximately $3.5 million.
