University of Chicago Medical Center Nurses Vote to Strike

University of Chicago Medical Center's 1,300 unionized nurses have voted to authorize a strike if their bargaining demands aren't met, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Contract negotiations have been underway since August between the union, National Nurses United and the hospital. Nurses want better staffing levels and to end rotating shifts.

Hospital officials have said nurse staffing levels are consistently ranked high compared to other hospitals, according to the report.
