The Services Employees International Union has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against Prime Healthcare Service's Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, Calif., over alleged false reports by the hospital that its employees ended their affiliation with the union, according to a Record Searchlight report.
On Wednesday, the hospital sent out a statement saying its maintenance and business office workers voted to end their affiliation with the SEIU, thereby absolving the last union in place at Shasta.
However, a vote had not yet taken place. Instead, more than half of the union members had signed a petition to decertify the union, according to the report.
While the hospital says it has withdrawn its recognition of the SEIU at the facility as a result of the petition, a spokesperson for the union emphasized that no formal action to end the union has yet been taken.
