Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, S.C., has proposed a $25 million borrowing plan in order to finance varying projects, including construction plans, according to a Times and Democrat report.
Pending board approval of the borrowing plan, RMC plans to construct a Dialysis Access Institute, which would cost $6.8 million to construct. The hospital also plans to put $10 million toward expanding its H. Filmore Mabry Center for Cancer Care, according to the report.
Although an outside financial consultant said the hospital could safely borrow the funds, others are skeptical whether borrowing is necessary because the hospital has available cash on hand to finance the projects.
