Full-time non-union and management workers at Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center will have to take one furlough day a week until the end of January in an effort to cut costs, according to a Jersey Journal report.
The plan, which started Nov. 22 and ends Jan. 31, hopes to target operating losses in September and October. The nonprofit company also asked and encouraged union employees — who are not affected by the furlough decision — to donate 20 percent of their paychecks to the company's foundation.
