A $46 million lawsuit filed in Dec. 2009 by a Mississippi hospital against its former management company, Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health Resources, is still pending, according to a Natchez Democrat report.
County-owned Natchez Regional Medical Center cited gross negligence and fraud against QHR and the hospital's former CEO and CFO, which were also provided by the management company. The suit seeks $46 million in damages for negligence, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud and other wrongful acts during 2006 and 2007.
The hospital board fired QHR in 2008, but NRMC alleges that the mismanagement is ultimately what led to the hospital's bankruptcy filing in Feb. 2009.
More than 900,000 pages of documents have been introduced in the discovery phase of the case, according to the report.
