Memorial Health in Colorado Won't Cut Jobs — Yet

Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs, Colo., said it will take certain cost-cutting measures to help remedy a $7.1 million budget deficit but will not announce layoffs yet, according to a Colorado Spring Independent report.

The health system's year-to-date budget deficit is a result of declining patient volumes, and hospital officials are eyeing work hours reductions, early retirements, hiring only for "mission-critical" roles and other measures as a means to fill that gap.

Although Memorial Health is not considering layoffs right now, they may be possible in the future, according to the report.
