Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill., has officially begun construction on its $220 million patient care tower, according to a hospital news release.
The hospital received state approval in 2010 to build the nine-story structure, which will feature 390,000 square feet of space for the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute, advanced technology and improved facilities for better patient experiences, according to the release. The tower will replace beds that are currently housed in buildings that were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s.
The building is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
