House Subcommittee Approves Bill to Reauthorize Children's Hospital GME

A House Subcommittee has approved a bill that would reauthorize $330 million in annual funding for five years to the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education Program, according to an AHA News Now report.

The Children's Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act (H.R. 1852) passed through the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee yesterday, and will now move to the full committee for review, according to the report.

The cuts to the Children's Hospital GME program are included in President Obama's 2012 budget.

The bill is backed by the American Hospital Association.
